Lake garda - limone sul garda
The return journey
From Cazanei in the Dolomites, we had to begin our return journey. We stopped on the way south in Trento but weren’t too impressed, so pushed on to Lake Garda once again travelling through terrific Tyrolean valleys.
Our hotel Bazzanega sits above Lake Garda with outstanding views. Its 2km up and out from the old fishing port called Limone sul Garda, a capital for lemon growing and of course lemonade sales in the village centre. The western side of Garda is less popular than the eastern side where the sun sets, but Limone is just a jewel. People catch the ferry from Navene on the other side just to come wander the winding narrow alleys, dine and enjoy an idyllic setting.
Garda is Italy’s biggest lake and a piece of Italy we dreamed of and still has that mountainous range to wonder at.
A wonderful climax to our Tyrolean adventure.
